The owner of this web site has some experience in working with
html and built his original site using Microsoft Front Page. He has since moved
to Dreamweaver 8, and was interested in being able to update and modify his content
without the need of a web designer once the basic site structure and design was
developed.
So, in this case, we developed a "template" in Dreamweaver which
consited of a home page and two content pages - one for text and another for
the shopping cart portion of the site. Once created, the client was instructed
in how to place his existing content from his original site into the new template.
This is a rather large site with a good deal of information, so it may be some
time before the client completes the project.
The aim was to keep the cost down by creating a new look for
the site, without requiring Zeropoint staff to import and re-format the extensive
amount of information on the original site. Although it will take longer for
the finished site to be available to the public, it strikes abalance between
the cost to produce such a site and the need to update the appearance.
Among the features included, we created an animated Flash banner
which is still under construction, as the client will need to provide us with
specific images. Also, a background image was created from an existing photograph
of the client / artist making knives in his workshop. This is not the ideal image,
but was used to get the idea across until a better image becomes available. We
also moved the links from the right side of the page to the bottom where they
do not detract from the space required to depict the images. This way, they are
still accesible to visitors and search engines without adding visual clutter
to the upper portion of the page. |
